Diabetes Blog Week - A Naturally Sweet Sisters Poem

Naturally Sweet Sisters is partnering with Bitter-Sweet for Diabetes Blog Week.  For Tuesday, May 13th, 2014  our assignment is to bring out the poet in you! Write a poem, rhyme, ballad, haiku, or any other form of poetry about diabetes.

A Trade-Off

You watch with a worried stare.
Fingers move in a mechanical air.
Poke, prod, push, pull, pat.
A needle snaps back.
The pain you say?
I have life for another day.

Yep, the daily world of finger pokes and blood sugar checks. As much as we detest it sometimes, it's so great to have (especially compared to the old-school dark ages!). Thanks for the poem!
