New Asante Snap Pump with Pre-filled Insulin Cartridge

Asante Snap Insulin Pump
Asante Disposal Pump

A new little gadget is about to appear on the pump scene.  Check out the new Asante Snap (previously named the Asante Pearl).

This new pump takes the hassle out of filling a cartridge with insulin by eliminating empty reservoirs and replacing them with 300 unit pre-filled glass cartridges.  Yep, you guessed it!  Making the Snap, well, a SNAP!

Once you have the reservoir in place, the pump automatically primes the tubing and cannula, eliminating a few extra keystrokes and a bit of time.

If you want to see an online demo, click here, to watch a little video of how the insulin pump comes apart in three small sections and then, snaps back together.

The biggest downfall appears that the only type of pre-filled insulin cartridges that Asante offers is Humalog.  Great if you use it, but for the Naturally Sweet Sisters, in order for us to even consider the Snap pump, we would need to switch our script from Apidra.

Not liking that idea one bit.  Apidra has really been great for two tween's blood sugars.

While the pump isn't quite on the market, look for more roll out information later this spring in limited markets.

If you do get a chance to see it or to participate in a demo, drop us a line with your thoughts and comments.  It will be interesting to hear what everyone thinks about this new Snap.

I was blessed with an opportunity to wear one for about a month. I absolutely loved it.

Doing a site & cartridge change was really fast and easy. So much so that I couldn't believe how ridiculous the same procedure was on my old pump once I had to give the Snap back. I miss it.
